As HIV testing has decreased in SC during the pandemic, more cases emerge

According to officials at Palmetto Community Care, the number of people getting tested for HIV has decreased significantly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the virus persists, leaving many of those newly infected unaware of their status and unequipped to manage their symptoms.

Antiretroviral medication are just one of many treatments and prevention methods available to those who are sexually active or HIV positive. A positive diagnosis is no longer a death sentence, rather a few pills per day.
